JACKSON, Miss. - Emergency personnel responded to two accidents on Bailey Ave. Ext. Friday morning.
One accident occurred at the traffic light in front of the Jackson Medical Mall, and the other near the intersection of Bailey Avenue Ext. and Woodrow Wilson. The latter, involved one of the Jackson fire units and the female driver of a car. Details are sketchy regarding both accidents.
However, regarding the one at Bailey-Woodrow Wilson, Fire Chief Roderick Simpson told The Mississippi Link via telephone that it is under investigation.
According to Deputy Chief Tyrone Lewis, he drove up to help officers at the accident in front of the Medical Mall. Lewis helped to direct traffic. “When I drove up to this accident, the accident down the street (referencing the one at Bailey and Woodrow Wilson) had not happened,” said Lewis. Lewis explained the accident involved a young lady driving a Ford Explorer and two gentlemen in mini van.
A source at the scene said she was told the driver of the mini van ran the light at the Medical Mall East entrance. None of the officer working the scene could speak to the media regarding the matter. All media questions has to be referred to JPD’s Public Information Officer, who was not at the scene.
However, Deputy Chief Lewis did tell us that the young lady driving the Explorer and the gentlemen in the mini van were transported to a local hospital after complaining of pain.
There were no report of injuries from the Bailey Ave. Ext.-Woodrow Wilson accident.
